What Are We Building?
Samanden Education is a work in progress and, like a building, we are based on strong foundations, which our founder Jay brings to the business. Building on these foundations is a team of expert craftsmen who bring our resources to life.
At present, Samanden Education has a range of resources that we are in the process of bringing to market. These combine multiple areas of learning including fine motor skills and mathematics to afford valuable learning experiences through play. We have a further two ranges of resources in development as well.
Meet Jay
Samanden, India 2019
Jay was raised in a family of educators, his father is Spanish Teacher and his mother is a Nursery Manager, having previously been an Early Years Practitioner herself. Jay began working in education in 2019 at a nursery on the site of an independent primary school. Jay spent six years working at this nursery, gaining an Early Years qualification, being a third-in-charge for three years, and developing a passion for supporting learning and child development during this time. Jay also completed a Bachelor’s (Hons) in History from King’s College London.
Jay brings these experiences to Samanden Education, which he started in 2022. Since then, the Kent-based company has been developing its own ranges of unique educational resources. Jay’s experience in Early Years and passion for learning has inspired Samanden Education’s product development so far.
The business derives its name from the very small village of Samanden, West Bengal, where Jay spent a night whilst backpacking in the Himalayas in 2019.
All of Samanden Education’s work is based on our goal:
To provide unique learning opportunities, designed with children in mind and which children can return to again and again through open-ended play.
This is inspired directly by Jay’s experience working in an early years and school setting, by the children he’s worked with and the benefits that educational resources afford learners through developmental play. It is Samanden Education’s ‘Why’, and is at the heart of the products it creates and aims to share with learners, educators and settings.
To support achieving this goal, Samanden Education employs three guiding values
Prioritise sustainable work and practice.
Have interesting, thought-provoking and productive conversations with educators and do work that talks to them.
To be proud of how goals are reached, not just the end result.
